Um naufrágio ocorrido na Tailândia no último domingo, 18, resultou no desaparecimento de, ao menos, 31 pessoas. Com a tragédia, a Marinha local anunciou uma operação de resgate. No Sul da Tailândia, inúmeras regiões foram atingidas com a chegada de fortes chuvas.
Pogkrong Montradpalin, almirante e atual porta-voz da Marinha Real Tailandesa, informou sobre as buscas dos desaparecidos. "Estamos procurando 31 dos 106 tripulantes do HTMS Sukhothai", informou ele, conforme repercutido pelo UOL.
Foi informado que os tripulantes 'perderam o controle' da embarcação, que afundou diante de fortes marés ocorridas no Golfo da Tailândia e um problema no sistema elétrico, danificado.
Com a tragédia, 75 pessoas que estavam na tripulação foram resgatadas pela operação, que envolve o uso de helicópteros militares, navio anfíbio e fragatas, conforme repercutido pela Marinha. Ao mesmo tempo, 11 pessoas foram hospitalizadas em Bang Saphan.

"Estou acompanhando de perto as notícias, cinco pessoas estão gravemente feridas", afirmou o primeiro-ministro Prayut Chan-o-Cha em comunicado emitido. Ele também informou que o episódio será investigado.
